The White Witch Golf Club
Montego Bay, Jamaica

More than anything else, this is one course that is so unique; you'll want to play it just to say you've been there. With its dramatic elevation changes, hairpin turns, swirling mountain winds, and panoramic views of the Caribbean (16 of 18 holes have sea views), the Robert Von Hagge-designed Witch is a delight, so long as you aren't intimidated by the course's layout and quirks. The White Witch offers five sets of tees on every hole so it can appeal to all levels of golfers. Therefore, pick the tees that suit your game! Aside from the golf, the Witch's "concierge" program helps to make the course both more playable and enjoyable. Concierges are essentially caddies who accompany cart-riding players to cite distance - to the yard - read putts, clean clubs, and run up and down fairways in search of hooks, shanks, and slices. The service of the caddies and the rest of the course staff are nothing less than what would be expected from Ritz-Carlton. Caddy fees are approximately $20.00 per person.

Tierra del Sol Golf Course
Aruba

This is a challenging championship course of stunning beauty close to the shoreline of the churning Caribbean Sea. This stretch of 18 holes designed by Robert Trent Jones II offers great and memorable vistas that stretch past a raw and rugged moonscape of rocky shore. What seems like a slight breeze from the tee is a fairly stiff wind up there where the ball soars. It costs the unwary golfer 20 or 30 yards of carry and probably five or six strokes per round for under-clubbed shots. A global positioning system in the golf carts provides tips and keys to each hole with suggestions about how to each the shot. Serious golfers should not scoff at this course's 6,811-yard length from the gold tees and 6,011 yards from the white tees. Most tourists tee it up from the white tees, says Tierra del Sol's resident professional. The course meanders past the sea for the first couple of holes and then heads inland through a dusky landscape of cacti, rock and divi-divi trees, which always lean west with the wind.

Wyndham el Conquistador
San Juan, Puerto Rico

The Wyndham El Conquistador Resort and Country Club course was designed by Arthur Hills in 1993. With the rugged contours of the land that accompany golfers on every shot makes it play far longer than its 6,662 yards. Twelve of the eighteen holes offer Atlantic or Caribbean vistas. And even where earth, ridge and jungle have dictated so much, Hills' work seems inspired. By the final few holes, the vertiginous tee shots and the 200-plus feet of elevation changes become welcome and expected adversaries. The James Bond classic "Goldfinger" was filmed here and it's easy to see why avid golfer Sean Connery would love it. This excursion requires a minimum of 8 players to operate.

Golfers frequently share the course with a myriad of exotic water birds hawks, osprey and even nesting eagles. This beautifully tight, typically southern course features 4 sets of tees, making play ideal for beginners and Pros. A par 5 on the 7th hole is a well-deserved score as it tees off over the water to a two-tiered green with water along both sides. Not for the faint of heart, the par 4, 11th hole requires a long accurate drive to the green bordered by water to set up the second shot. Don't miss the rewards of accuracy on this course that imparts true southern flavor.
